I was skeptical, till I tried it!

DISCLAIMER ---- long review but worth reading if you have trouble skin and been fighting for a long time like me. Skip to the product review part only if you don't have long time acne problems!
Before I go into more in-depth review about the product let me give a little background on my skin and what I was trying to overcome over the many years. My skin type is combination dry/oily skin that is slightly sensitive. Over the years ever since my teen years I had moderate/severe acne break-outs from deep nodules such as cyst and papules to white heads and black heads. I started off with many products over the counter like apricot scrubs, clean and clear, aveeno, you name it I've tried it. During my initial days of treatment I was using proactiv for years of moderate success but it never really went away completely. So I changed products to Murad, unfortunately salicylic acid isn't for me and I had a terrible flare up. At this point I landed on a wonderful site called acne.org and learned a lot about breakouts, I read over hundreds of forum posts searching for a regimen. I decided to try a combination of Dan Kern's benzyl peroxide, cleaners, AHA+ (glycolic acid 10%) at night, and a moisturizer. This worked for a few years with about 90% success, with periodic break outs here and there. Over the years, I noticed how tender and more sensitive my skin got due to the combo. I also noticed that my skin was aging or the toughness that was developing from the products. At this point the effectiveness was getting worst and worst. So I decided to discontinue this regimen and continue to search for something else. At this point I read some amazing reviews about a product line called Kavi. Although expensive for their kit, I was desperate and decided to give it a go. I took 2-3 weeks off of any products to allow my skin to take a breather and eased into the Kavi products following carefully to their instructions. Sadly this sulfur based product was a bunk for me, and after two months of use I was breaking out like my teen days again in my early 20s. As I went on with my research I came to believe that maybe it's because I've been so dependent on chemicals to make my face better, than I needed to take a more simple approach. That's when I got into washing my face with Cerave cleanser and using a simple Cerave moisturizer. The breakouts calmed down but were still persistent, now I was left at a moderate to light acne stage. After months of use I didn't see any significant improvements, I had the breakouts controlled but not necessarily treated. I figured, maybe the products had a substance I was allergic to and causing me to break out, so I went to the final and most simple step which was to use Dove unscented bar and moisturizer from Cerave. This was the best my skin as ever been, ~85% controlled, with some small red bumps here and there. Thinking in a physiological stand point, if I keep using chemicals on my face my body would never find a away to adapt and deal with the bacteria on my face. So I stay consistent with the dove hoping my skin would simply take over. Four months later, my skin is in the exact same stage, stagnant in recovery. That's when I came to amazon, knowing that amazon has some the most unbiased reviews, I searched for the highest rated products of skin care. I decided, well since I've tried everything already couldn't hurt to try one more with all these positive reviews and that leads us to currently.
Dermalogica Dermal Clay Cleanser -- product review
This cleanser is my first clay cleanser and for my asian oily/dry combination skin it works really well. After the wash my skin feels thoroughly clean without the feeling of residue left over after the wash. My skin is not overly dry at a mile high elevation of Denver, and the bottle last quite a long time. I usually use about a dime sized and gently lather into my face for about 45 seconds. I use it in combination with their Active moist and it has made a whole worlds difference in my face. After three weeks of use my face is about 95% better. I still get a pimple here and there but the turnover time is amazing, the same pimple is usually gone within 24-48 hours. I had a lot of blackheads on my inner cheek, and my nose and I can see almost a 60% reduction. This is my first review ever on amazon, and I had to share with everyone to hopefully help another person like me. I'm not saying the product with work 100% for everyone but it's worth giving a try. Hope this has helped you make a decision on purchasing the product.
** Some other products I've used but didn't mention in the long review were Paula skin products, some clay masks, over 10 different benzyl peroxide washes with different concentrations, natural oil cleanser products, and many more that I am forgetting.

Love Dermalogica!
By Andrea
I'm a 20-something black woman who had acne since a pre-teen. I've used Proactiv, Clean and Clear, Obagi, Mary Kay's acne line, etc. NOTHING ever eliminated or reduced the acne. For the last 6 years, I've been getting facials including extractions. My aesthetician only uses Dermalogica and I use it at home. If you were to see me, you'd never know I had acne. The products do seem expensive but a little goes a long way. I had an 8oz bottle of Dermal Clay Cleanser that lasted over a year... and I wash my face in the morning and at night! I upgraded to the 16.9 oz and cant wait to see how long it lasts. Although this is definitely the best facial cleanser I've ever used, I think it's important to get a facial that includes extractions every 6-8 weeks.

Great for dry skin!
By KnittingMommy
My skin is so dry but I also have blackheads on my nose- this takes care of both! My skin glowed after just one use and it smells amazing. I feel like I'm getting a spa treatment every day. I love the Dermalogica line but this is by far my favorite product so far.
